Practo vs Your Own Clinic Website: What an India Clinic Owner Should Compare

Compare a free Practo profile, Prime, Ray and your own clinic website by job, cost, appointment flow and control. Use a practical clinic-owner worksheet.

01

Do not compare four different jobs as one product

Should an India clinic use Practo or build its own website? Start by asking which part of Practo you mean. A free doctor profile, Prime and Ray do different work. Your own website has a different job again. Comparing all of them under one monthly number can hide the thing you actually need.

A profile helps someone find and check a practitioner within a directory. A clinic website can explain your team, services, location and contact process on your own domain. Appointment technology handles the next step. Practice-management software supports clinic operations. One tool may cover several jobs, but a website is not automatically a replacement for every service your reception uses.

The short answer: keep a useful, accurate directory presence and judge your own website by the gap it fills. Evaluate paid booking or management products separately. Neither a listing nor a new website guarantees patients.

02

What the current Practo pages actually say

Checked October 5, 2026, Practo's doctor-profile page describes a free profile and an online verification process. It lists profile information such as registration, fees, timings and practice details. Free profile creation should not be read as every Practo product being free.

Practo Prime is presented for clinics and hospitals, with Prime listing visibility, instant booking, calling technology and appointment notifications. Its public page describes a platform fee and wallet-based charging when a patient first uses the technology, within a stated rolling window. Do not calculate a clinic's bill without the current written commercial terms.

Practo Ray's page explicitly says Ray is clinic-management software, not an advertising product. A website build does not replace its records, billing or other operational functions merely by adding a contact button.

The Prime provider FAQ says it does not guarantee appointments or patients. Practo's public pages can change and some help wording may differ from the latest sales terms. Get a written quote, charging definition and cancellation terms for the exact product rather than treating this article as your contract.

03

Where your own website can add something different

Your site can put the details a patient needs in one place: who practises at the clinic, what services are offered, where to go, when you are open and how an appointment request is handled. The clinic chooses the page structure and wording rather than fitting every explanation into a directory profile.

That control comes with work. Someone must keep the hours, names and contact links current. Someone must pay attention to the domain renewal and test the appointment path. A site on your own domain still depends on hosting, licences and any external booking system you choose.

Ownership and portability belong in the website quote. Ask whose account holds the domain and whether you receive usable files. A custom-looking website on a closed platform is not automatically a portable website. More control is useful only if the clinic can keep it accurate and accessible.

04

Compare by job, not by a patient promise

JobPracto product to checkOwn website question
Directory profileFree profile details and verificationDoes our site clearly confirm the same facts?
Paid listing/booking technologyPrime's current scope and feesIs our button a request or a real booking?
Clinic operationsRay's subscribed functionsWhich functions are outside the website build?
Clinic explanationWhat the profile can displayCan patients find team, services and location?
Control and exitAccount, data and subscription termsWho holds the domain and portable files?

The sensible choice may be both, with a clear role for each. It may also be an accurate free profile first while the clinic fixes basic information. Do not buy a website simply to tick a box if the real problem is unanswered calls or conflicting opening hours.

05

Check the appointment flow with reception

Follow a patient path from each channel without entering real patient data. Is it a confirmed appointment, a request waiting for a reply, or a link into another booking service? What does the patient see next? Who at the clinic notices the request?

A WhatsApp button can open a conversation. It does not know a dentist's availability or reserve a chair unless a separate system provides that function. If reception must confirm the slot, label it an appointment request. Do not promise instant booking on the website when the actual process is a manual reply.

If you use Prime or another booking service, check how availability is maintained and how cancellations, missed calls and repeat contacts affect the workflow and bill. Avoid collecting symptoms, scans or records in a general website enquiry form when a simple contact request will do. Keep clinical communication in the appropriate clinic process.

06

Use this cost and responsibility worksheet

Write down your actual current figures. There is no verified universal Practo price or clinic website market average in this article. A free profile has a different cost structure from paid technology; a website can have a one-time build plus recurring services.

ItemAmount / charging ruleResponsibility and evidence
ProfileFree profile or named paid product?Verified current listing and scope
Prime or booking toolWritten fees, tax and charging eventsTerms, refunds and cancellation
Ray or management toolExact subscribed planOperational functions we actually use
Website buildFixed scope quotePages, writing, changes and handover
Domain, hosting and careRenewals and optional supportAccount holder and named tasks

Compare the same period and include GST where applicable. Record exclusions rather than quietly assuming they are included. Ask who changes the clinic timings in every channel. Two tools are not a good setup if neither person thinks that update is their job.

07

A Bangalore clinic example, without invented returns

Imagine a small Bangalore dental clinic with an accurate Practo profile and a reception team that confirms appointments by phone. Patients referred by friends also search for the clinic's name. This is a hypothetical example, not a client result.

The website's useful job could be to explain the team, show directions and state the request process. The clinic can retain its Practo presence. It does not need to describe the website as a substitute for management software or promise that every website visitor becomes a patient.

Track enquiries with a simple source question where appropriate. Count confirmed visits separately from requests. If reception cannot identify where an enquiry came from, record the source as unknown. A rise in directory views or website visits alone cannot tell you which tool earned a booked appointment.

08

Choose the missing job first

If your existing profile is wrong, fix the facts first. If patients cannot understand the clinic after a referral, a clear website may fill that gap. If staff need appointment or billing tools, evaluate those functions directly. If you are considering a paid product, ask for its exact scope and terms before committing.

VerandaWeb is Yash Bhatter, handling design, words and structure for doctors, dentists and clinics. You see a real demo first and receive a fixed build quote before deciding. Care is optional and the site stays yours. There is no promise of a patient count and no assumption that you must abandon Practo.

Send your clinic name, area and the contact route reception can actually support. Do not send patient records or account passwords. The demo can show what your own site would add before you decide whether that job is worth buying.
